Head of Sports Development Academy & Athletics – Part Time

Established in 1896, St Catherine’s School, Toorak, has the unique mixture of a proud history combined with contemporary thinking. As a non-denominational Christian School our core philosophy is to nurture independent and thoughtful young women, with strong values, who are confident of their ability to lead and make a difference.The Head of Sports Development Academy & Athletics is responsible for the strategic direction, administration and management of the School’s newly created Sports Development Academy. The Sports Development Academy has been developed to create a pathway program for developing student athletes.It will commence as a pilot program involving 10 students in Semester 1 of 2022, with expansion to occur in subsequent semesters. The Head Coach of Athletics has a key role in developing and providing opportunities for our students to excel and thrive in Athletics. The Head Coach of Athletics oversees the School’s highly successful Athletics and Cross-Country programs, within the Girls Sport Victoria (GSV), School Sport Victoria (SSV) competitions.The role will initially be offered as a 0.4 FTE (equivalent of 2 days a week)To be successful in obtaining an interview - you will need to demonstrate your experience in:Leadership of staff and students to achieve excellent resultsInnovative design and implementation of Sports Academy programsLeading and developing outstanding Athletics programsA capacity to build a network, work collaboratively and efficientlyUse progressive ICT programs within the Sports context to produce excellent data and resultsUnderstand and work within budgetsHave good knowledge of all risk, compliance and safety legislation and processesKey Selection CriteriaPrevious experience working in a High-Performance Sport Program including experience in athletics, exercise programming and a contextual knowledge of school sportRelevant Fitness/Strength and Conditioning qualificationsDemonstrated ability to analyse a sport in relation to the team and/or the athlete’s strength and conditioning needsStrong organisational and time management skillsHigh level judgement and the capacity to respond independently and decisivelyExcellent ICT skills with the ability to use ICT to support School programs as well as administration practicesHigh level written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively and supportively within a team environmentExcellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to establish a good rapport with students, staff and parentsTertiary qualification in Exercise Physiology, Sports Science, Physical Education (Desirable)Applicants must have a valid Working with Children card and recent Police check, as well as evidence of COVID 19 Vaccination and fully qualified in First Aid.Please apply via our website http://www.stcatherines.net.au/employment/ addressing the Selection Criteria (above) in your cover letter, with an updated Resume included.  Applications close: Friday 26th November, 2021.For more information please contact Jasmine Taylor, Human Resources Manager via hr@stcatherines.net.au  or visit our School website www.stcatherines.net.auSt Catherine’s School is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children by providing a child safe environment.
